Meet Dr. Jeffrey Jensen
I am a board certified Chiropractor, but more specifically, I am an upper cervical chiropractor practicing the Blair Technique. Upper cervical work takes many hours of extra-curricular training and is only practiced by less than 5% of chiropractors. I carefully study a patient’s specific 3-dimensional upper cervical x-rays before applying a light force and specific adjustment to the first bone of the neck, known as the Atlas.
Let me explain my story and why I chose to practice this technique. For years I have been plagued with lower back pain often radiating down my right leg. While in graduate school I went through a 6 month fight with bad flair-ups. At this time I was getting my low back adjusted A LOT...3x/ week. Every time I went back to get it examined my low back was misaligned again. It was very frustrating and painful. A speaker came to the school and talked to us about upper cervical chiropractic. He spoke of widespread effects not just in the neck, but total wellness with just a specific neck adjustment. I was cautious but interested as I explored what upper cervical chiropractic could do for me. He ended up adjusting my neck. Two days later I woke up and my back was no longer knotted up. The pain going down my leg was gone.
At the time I didn’t understand how a neck adjustment could affect the lower back. Consider this…your whole body is controlled by your brain and the doorway from the brain to your body is your upper neck. Getting the upper neck in alignment helps balance muscles all the way down to your toes. Muscles move joints and therefore, until my neck was aligned, the muscles kept pulling my low back out, no matter how many low back adjustments I received. After I saw how this worked for me I was sold. I was then on a quest to find which upper cervical technique would fit me the best (there are a few different specific upper cervical techniques). Once I found the Blair technique I knew this was where I needed to be. I have been fortunate to help others find the power of upper cervical care. This chiropractic technique has been known to respond very well to all spinal conditions, headaches, hypertension, vertigo, multiple sclerosis, fibromyalgia, and the list goes on with other problems not normally correlated to general chiropractic. One of my passions is speaking to the public about the natural health benefits of chiropractic and the role it plays in healthcare.
On a more personal level, I have a beautiful wife, Amy, my 8 year old son, Porter, and my 5 year old twin girls, Simone and Scarlet. My last practice was in Post Falls, Idaho. We loved it there but it was missing something, so we decided to make the trek to Utah to be near family and friends. I served a mission in Charlotte, North Carolina (Spanish speaking) and have kept the language up quite well.
